Overview

The Associate Director performs business-driven analyses that generate in-depth customer-focused insights and enables critical discussions to continue.  This individual will support key business decisions and inform company strategy through thoughtful analysis and projects, as well as support the Director of I&A in all business priorities.  The role will also interface with the field-focused teams and home office closely in leading and developing the quarterly business review process.

This role will provide and generate insights and analytics for the US hospital-based portfolio at Shionogi, Inc with a focus on the in-line brand Fetroja™ (cefiderocol).

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on expertise and works collaboratively to design and execute all commercial analytical deliverables related to Fetroja™, including identifying appropriate data sets and methodologies to conduct analysis plus synthesis & presentation of final output and conclusion. The scope of the role includes (but is not limited to) the following areas:
    • Market/Landscape analysis, HCP/HCO Opportunity analysis, situation analysis and SWOT analytics, patient journey analysis, segmentation, advanced analytics including promotional response and mix modeling, territory opportunity analytics, ROI assessments, and customer assessments.
    • Support the Director of I&A in the build, analysis, and communication of accurate short-term and long-range demand and revenue forecasts.
    • Perform advanced statistical analyses with market knowledge and research expertise to identify patterns within the data, uncover insights/brand opportunities and articulate actionable recommendations.
    • Actively collaborate with Fetroja™ marketing team to ensure alignment and clear understanding of analytical needs to support strategic imperatives.
    • Develop deep understanding of brand disease state(s) and contribute to competitive intelligence efforts by way of market landscape analysis and projections, identification of potential future competitors, and assessment of implications to brand strategy and revenue forecast.
    • Deliver data driven insights through the development of presentations and dashboards that will serve as the foundation for the Fetroja performance narrative and inform strategic decision making across the commercial organization.
  • Partnership and peripheral skills expected include:
    • Quarterly Business Reviews: This role will lead, manage, and execute the entire quarterly business review process for the field teams, coordinating appropriately with home office commercial and cross-functional teams as needed.  This will include a national-level analysis, regional sales level analytics, and reporting of strategic initiatives as needed.
    • Enhancement of Field Reporting: In partnership with Field Operations Reporting Lead, recommend and design key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for the field teams, as well as identify new relevant field-based reports/metrics based on performed ad-hoc analytics.
    • Development of Home Office Dashboards and Reporting Schema: Proactively partner with CDM&T to automate existing manual reports and data streams to support Fetroja™ and other legacy products; create home office and corporate level reports in BI platform; ensure alignment of said dashboards with field sales reports in partnership with Field Operations Reporting Lead
    • In conjunction with US Leadership Team: Support Director of I&A in development of credible annual objectives that effectively measure the Commercial Plan’s performance at the product level (accountability for the US).
    • Executive Support: Support Director of I&A in preparation of insights and analysis to support executive level presentations, including board presentations, and budget reviews.
  • Effectively collaborate across Shionogi to ensure organizational commitment and alignment with key functions (such as: Marketing, Value and Access, Medical, Finance, and Sales) that are critical to the successful attainment of financial sales goals.
  • Display a high degree of curiosity, creativity, and innovation in problem-solving, proactively developing new approaches, processes, and methodologies to maintain consistent and reliable commercial operations.
  • Identify and support initiatives that leverage AI, machine learning, and automation to enhance decision-making, optimize operations, and deliver actionable insights.

Minimum Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required in a quantitative or business discipline e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field; Scientific background preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years pharmaceutical healthcare analytics experience
    • Solid knowledge of sources of secondary information and syndicated research for the pharmaceutical and health care industries to include:
      • Deep expertise required of commercial business and industry standard data – script (IQVIA, Symphony, etc.), Patient (Specialty Pharmacies/Distributors), Claims (Open, Closed, Chargemaster, etc.), Managed Care (Symphony, MMIT, etc.), and wholesaler/distribution data (EDI 852, 867, etc.).
      • Awareness of potential biases from each database and how that may impact analysis.
    • Strong technical knowledge of advanced modeling techniques and statistical principles.
    • Must be an advanced user of SAS (or similar programming languages such as R or Python) for statistical analysis in a pharmaceutical context and have experience with data extraction, analysis, and modeling.
    • Familiarity with database management issues and ability to interact effectively with systems managers.

Other Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10-20% of the year.
  • Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Office presence is required at least 3 days per week.

Essential Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to articulate clearly and conduct verbal presentations with large and small audiences.
  • Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.
  • Ability to view video display terminal images < 18” away from face for extended period of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.
