Overview

The Senior Medical Information Associate is responsible for having in-depth scientific knowledge of Shionogi medicines and therapeutic area to respond to medical information requests from healthcare professionals, patients, and customers through various communication channels.  This role develops, maintains, and disseminates current, accurate, and balanced product information to internal and external customers. The Senior Medical Information Associate will also support other medical information activities and cross-functional product teams, such as scientific conference support and promotional review.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update scientific response documents (SRDs), Medical FAQs, and approved product AMCP Dossiers for all Shionogi Inc. products.
  • Provide timely, accurate, balanced, and up-to-date scientific responses to medical inquiries from healthcare professionals (HCP) and other customer types through verbal and written responses. Responsible for phone coverage as needed.
  • Evaluate and interpret the medical literature for relevant scientific data to respond to medical inquiries and to maintain scientific documents.
  • Provide Medical Information training to Shionogi Inc. sales representatives and outsourced vendors, as needed.
  • Analyzes and conveys medical and scientific insights, as well as customer inquiry trends, through the creation of reports and presentations to key internal stakeholders.
  • Participates in expanded cross-functional teams to ensure medical accuracy in promotional review and medical review committees, as needed.
  • Staff Medical Information booths at live scientific/medical meetings.
  • Recognize, capture, and report adverse events and product quality complaints according to policies and procedures.
  • Support other Medical Information activities/tactics as needed.
  • Adhere to all applicable Shionogi SOPs, policies, processes, and compliance guidelines and ensures knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements to appropriately respond to medical inquires, disseminate scientific information, and report AEs and PQCs.

 

Qualifications

  • Registered pharmacist; PharmD preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in Medical Information or minimum of three (3) to four (4) years experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in scientific content development, such as Medical Information Scientific Response Documents and medical FAQs preferred.
  • Strong scientific background with a deep understanding of medical and clinical concepts.
  • Capable of recognizing, capturing, and reporting adverse events and product quality complaints in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ability to accurately and effectively evaluate medical/scientific literature.

Other Requirements

  • Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Office presence required 50% per month, at least 2-3 days per week.

 

Essential Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to articulate clearly and conduct verbal presentations with large and small audiences.
  • Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.
  • Ability to view video display terminal images < 18” away from face for extended period of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.
