Overview

The Director, US Commercial Finance will support the Commercial and Medical business partners and participate in finance activities, working closely with business leaders to achieve business objectives.  Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, this position will assist with financial planning and analysis activities including pre-launch and launch analysis. The role requires a candidate to see beyond the numbers and become a strategic business partner that understands the market, business dynamics and industry trends.

Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as a proactive and collaborative business partner to senior management of the Commercial and Medical organization to assist them in developing and evaluating pre-launch and launch product and marketing initiatives to effectively manage P&L and prepare for a successful launch.
  • Direct extensive variance analysis vs. previous year, budget, and Latest Estimates; include accompanying written business analysis to identify risks & opportunities and make suggestions mitigation; develop and analyze performance metrics.
  • Own the annual budgeting process and present to senior management monthly updates on business risks and opportunities that will have a financial impact on the business.
  • Ensure that the strategic financial planning process for the Commercial group links to the long-term product development and operational strategies of the Company.
  • Support the month-end close and accrual process for Commercial functions; ensure proper expense recognition; manage allocations; ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Prepare performance reviews and other formal financial packages for senior management; on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Support the preparation of product P&Ls and Commercial expense reports and assists in communicating results to business leaders.
  • Evaluate current share trends, perform competitor analyses, and evaluate potential business solutions.
  • Analyze and make recommendations pertaining to product supply and wholesaler inventory management.

Minimum Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum eight years of Finance experience US Finance experience required.
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical technology industries.
  • Pre-launch and launch experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strength in financial planning and analysis in a company with complex business strategies.
  • Expertise in presentation tools such as think-cell, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Background in refining and implementing financial systems and processes, preferably some of which has been in a transitional environment and/or consumer products organization
  • Analytical experience across all major functional areas with focus on Sales, Supply Chain (for Cost Control) and Product Management
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours to meet financial deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of financial compliance: SOX, GAAP

Other Requirements

  • Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Hybrid work arrangements will allow work from home combined with your presence on-site a minimum of 2-3 days/week.

Essential Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to articulate clearly and conduct verbal presentations with large and small audiences.
  • Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.
  • Ability to view video display terminal images < 18” away from face for extended period of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.

 

Additional Information

The base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 - $210,000. Individual pay is determined by several factors, which include but are not limited to: job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The range does not include the comprehensive benefits, bonus, long-term incentive, applicable allowances, or any additional compensation that may be associated with this role.
