Overview

The Director, Product and Corporate Communications will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Communications and will lead the development and implementation of integrated Product and Corporate Communications. The individual in this role must be highly collaborative, have experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, have a strong desire to be part of a growth culture, and have proven ability to drive effective communications strategies and programs. This is a contract position. The position will be hybrid and must be able to be in person in Florham Park, NJ. on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

  • Write communications materials (press releases, website content, social media content, internal communications, key messages and Q&As) with strategic alignment to business priorities and corporate positioning, strong grammatical acumen, close attention to detail and minimal oversight
  • Manage corporate social media channels for Shionogi and subsidiary, developing and maintaining content strategies in line with business priorities, securing input from cross-functional stakeholders on content and ensuring all required reviews
  • Partner with colleagues across the organization to assess and develop communications approach and materials to support emerging opportunities and issues
  • Manage all internal and external communications around corporate milestones including executive appointments, new facilities, partnerships and license agreements
  • Represent communications in cross-functional launch readiness teams and manage communications projects and workstreams
  • Oversee large-scale website updates for Shionogi and subsidiaries with a strong focus on content development and editorial excellence (design/programming skills not required)
  • Work with internal global partners to support internal campaigns, develop articles and prepare content for English-speaking audiences
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots including writing scripts, working with vendors to edit footage and overseeing post-production (video editing/production skills not required)
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with medical, legal and regulatory colleagues and manage U.S. material review process
  • Maintain and regularly update corporate collateral including corporate overview presentation, brochures and journal ads
  • Ensure that company values and visual identity/branding are followed and incorporated into deliverables

Minimum Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline required
  • Minimum of 10+ years in public relations, corporate communications and/or business unit communications preferably at a pharmaceutical or biotech company or a public relations firm
  • Exceptional written, oral and visual communication skills required
  • Exemplary project management and organizational skills with ability to prioritize and be accountable for multiple projects
  • Proficiency with Veeva and Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Experience working on FDA approvals and new product launches
  • Experience working with external/company spokespeople and patient advocates/advocacy groups
  • Experience with internal communications including town halls and special events
  • Experience developing corporate social media strategies and implementing social media programs
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical, commercial, manufacturing and regulatory environment
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills, including an ability to combine attention to detail with a big-picture perspective
  • Ability to develop successful working relationships and serve as a subject matter expert with senior executives
  • Ability to develop relationships across the U.S. and global organization across levels and functional areas
  • Excellent judgment and professional maturity
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, motivated, enthusiastic, curious mindset
  • Position may require up to 15-20% domestic travel
  • This is a hybrid opportunity and US Corporate Headquarters is in Florham Park, NJ. 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in infectious and/or rare disease
  • Proficiency with media strategy and media relations
  • Understanding of the U.S. regulatory pathways
  • Experience launching new products in the U.S.
  • Ability to own projects and work both collaboratively and independently

Additional Information

The hourly rate for this position is $122 - $150. Individual pay is determined by several factors, which include but are not limited to: job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The range does not include the comprehensive benefits, bonus, long-term incentive, applicable allowances, or any additional compensation that may be associated with this role.
